The application is then submitted for processing, where documents are reviewed, appraisals and title examinations are ordered. The loan is then sent to an underwriter for review and approval, if it meets all compliance requirements.

Don't be surprised if you are asked for additional documentation or clarification during the process. Once your loan is approved, remember to set up homeowners insurance. Your documents will then be sent to the title company, where you will sign for the new home and pay any remaining costs. The loan will then be recorded and you will receive the keys.
